The Everyday Bag is a bag just as the name says: for every day and a MUST HAVE :). It´s small enough to carry around and big enough to store some things in it. The bag is about 8 x 11 x 2.8 inch (20 x 28 x 6.5 cm) and has an adjustable handle. You can sew the bag in different variations.

Die Everyday Bag ist eine Tasche für den täglichen Gebrauch und ein MUSS :) – klein genug, um sie überall mit dabei zu haben – groß genug, um einiges zu verstauen. Sie misst ca. 8 x 11 x 2,8 inch (20 x 28 x 6,5 cm). Die Everyday Bag kann in unterschiedlichen Varianten genäht werden.

Olws become a 241

I had some faux leather in eggplant and a beautiful organic cotton fabric with owls to become a 241 and a coordinating small origami bag, but unfortunately I am missing some parts to finish the bag... Hopefully I can buy the missing parts tomorrow....

Ich hatte Kunststoffleder in aubergine und einen schönen Biobaumwollstoff mit Eulen, um daraus eine 241 und eine passende kleine Origami Bag zu nähen. Leider fehlen mir für die Tasche die Schnallen... Hoffentlich kann ich die Teile morgen besorgen...

Pattern Testing on a Sunday - Camp Stitchalot Bag

What a fantastic day, yesterday. I feel very tired this morning, but content!
Yesterday Miriam@berlinquilter, Tacha@Hanies and me came over to my home for a bag pattern testing for The Camp Stitchalot Bag by sara@sewsweetness - Looks like an art folder, love this. We thought, it might be a good idea to start early to finish our project in one day. So after some chatting, the reading, cutting, preaparing and sewin began at maybe quarter to eleven in the morning. And of course we took some pictures ;-).

Because my i pad doesn't allow me to go to the end of this Post, i will tell you here, that I linked this up with Alyce  who is hostingTGIFF this week.

Was für ein toller Tag, gestern. Ich bin zwar heute unglaublich müde, aber zufrieden!
Gerstern haben Miriam@berlinquilter, Tacha@Hanies und ich bei mir zu Hause die Camp Stitchalot Bag von sara@sewsweetness zu testen, sie sieht aus wie eine Kunstmappe, das liebe ich daran. Wir dachten, es wäre sinnvoll, gleich morgens anzufangen, damit wir die Tasche auch fertig bekommen. Also ging es Viertel vor elf in der Früh nach wichtigem Informationsaustausch los mit Lesen, Schneiden, Vorbereiten und Nähen. Na klar haben wir auch Fotos gemacht ;-).

I´ve chosen linen from Anna Maria Horner´s Field Study and Echino and a garden plastic for the big inside pockets, Tacha had some vinyl for me for the side pockets. This garden plastic is fantastic. I have so many new ideas, and again I ask myself, why MY day has only 24 hours ;-). You could here us saying...Ohh, this is going to be so beautiful every half an hour LOL. We had a lot fun doing this together.

Ich habe mir Leinen von Anna Maria Horner´s Field Study und Echino ausgesucht, von Tacha hab ich durchsichtige Folie für die Seitentaschen bekommen und bin für die Plastiktaschen innen ins Gartencenter gefahren und habe uns Gitterfolie besorgt - kann ich nur weiterempfehlen. Das hat mich auf Ideen gebracht, und schon wieder fällt mir auf, dass MEIN Tag nur 24 Stunden hat ;-)! Man konnte uns den ganzen Tag nur hören: " ohhh, das wird so schön". Wir hatten echt so viel Spaß zusammen.

As you can see two pictures above I used my beautiful Anna Maria Linen only on the top of the pockets to save some of this beautiful fabric. The lining is not to see at all.

Wie man zwei Bilder drüber sehen kann, habe ich meinen wertvollen Anna Maria Leinen nur oben für die Taschen benutzt, da man die untere Hälfte später gar nicht sieht.

We cut and sewed and ripped off and discussed and sewed and so on and on, untill we got hungry and ordered some Pizza. I wanted to make some noodels and salat, but we decided that time is money and we shouldn´t wast it on cooking LOL. After a little lunch-break we continued. The time ran!!! Seven o´clock in the evening and the picture above was made. We were a bit exhausted then, but we really wanted to go to bed with a finished bag for our supplies for FQ-Retreat in London.
And exactly at twenty past tEN!!!!! we all finished our bags together. We have the same speed in sewing, which made our day really effective. The finished bag is about 20 x 14 Inch.
Look at our beauties - and everyone is so different!

Wir schnitten und nähten und trennten auf und diskutierten und nähten und so weiter und so weiter, bis wir hunger bekamen und uns Pizza bestelltn. Eigentlich wollte ich uns Nudeln kochen und Salat machen, aber wir beschlossen, dass die Zeit zu kostbar ist, um sie mit Kochen zu verschwenden LOL. Nach einer kleinen Mittagspause ging es auch gleich weiter. Die Zeit rannte!!! Um sieben Uhr abends wurde das obere Bild aufgenommen. Wir waren echt schon ein wenig erschöpft, wollten aber unbedingt fertig werden und mit einem guten Gefühl ins Bett steigen. Die Tasche wird für den FQ-Retreat in London mit auf Reisen gehen.
Genau um zwanzig nach zehn!!! waren wir alle gemeinsam mit unseren Taschen fertig. Wir haben das gleiche Nähtempo, was unseren Tag sehr effektiv gemacht hat. Die fertige Tasche misst ca. 20 x 14 Inch.

It was a very long day and I am glad I had such a wonderful Company and we decided to repeat this soon!!!

Es war ein wirklich langer Tag, aber ich bin froh, dass ich ihn in so wunderbarer Gesellschaft verbracht habe. Das werden wir wiederholen!!!

The pattern will be out the end of June or beginning of July and the hard work is really really worth it. I will take mine to London for all the handsewing workshops I´m going to make there.

Die Anleitung wird Ende Juni oder Anfang Juli zu haben sein und die harte Arbeit ist die Tasche echt wert. Ich werde meine mit nach London für meine dortigen Handarbeits-Workshops mit nehmen.

Ohhh, the bag is finished :)))) The pattern is from Sara from SewSweetness and she will release the pattern on May 7th.
Juhu, ich habe die Tasche tatsächlich fertig bekommen :)))) Der Schnitt ist von Sara von SewSweetness und sie wird den Schnitt ab 7. Mai in Ihrem Shop anbieten.

This is a gorgeous patter with lots of pieces. My version has ca. 50 pieces!
Das ist ein toller Schnitt mit unglaublich vielen Teilen. Meine Version hat ca. 50 Teile! 

I love the way how the intermediate steps look - so fun: 
Ich finde die Zwischenschritte so klasse:

I have to admit, that my sewing machine had some problems so sew all these pieces together, but I was so kind to HER, that she sewed this bag wunderful till the end :).
Ich muss gestehen, dass meine Nächmaschine schon ein wenig an ihre Grenzen gestoßen ist... Ganz schön viele Lagen auf einmal. Aber mit gutem Zureden hat sie es wunderbar zu Ende gebracht :).

I have to confess, that I am always curious, when I find a yellow note in my mailbox: You can pick the parcel the next day!

At the moment I am waiting for 3, no - now for 2 parcels I ordered weeks ago, so I had no idea which one this could be…. Yeah, my handles from Hong Kong arrived – I want to try new bags. Yes, I know, it´s not good for the ecobalance, but it is unbelievable but true, that almost everything is cheaper elsewhere. You order in USA, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia and UK just like this – insane!

But I promised myself to buy less fabrics this year and until now I am on the right track :)

Ich muss gestehen, dass ich immer noch super neugierig bin, wenn ich einen gelben Zettel im Briefkasten habe: Sie können Ihr Paket bei der Post abholen!

Z.Z. habe ich mal wieder 3 Bestellungen laufen, ähem jetz noch 2, die aber schon einige Wochen her sind, also wusste ich nicht, was mich erwartet… Juhu, meine Taschenhenkel aus Hong Kong sind da, ich will neue Taschen ausprobieren. Ja, ich weiß -  Ökobilanz und so, aber leider ist es unglaublich, dass dennoch fast alles billiger ist als hier. Man bestellt dann eben mal in USA, Hong Kong, Japan, Australien oder UK – Wahnsinn!

Aber ich bin meinem Vorsatz bisher treu geblieben und habe viel weniger bestellt als letztes Jahr :)

How the Charlie Bag from Burda became a twin bag…

… I spent the last weekend with 8 gorgeous Ladies from the Bee Germany together sewing, chatting and buying fabric.

So it happened that I bought some very untypical fabric for me. I was influenced and inspired at the same time from Ulrike and she was from me. She wanted to sew the Charlie Bag from Burda at our get together and I threw over my origin plans and switched over to this bag ;-).

Ok, we bought the same gobelin / tapestry, at least that´s what the salesman said, a lovely lining for 4 Euro per meter and for the ground we decided (together of course) for an undefined kind of fabric which is maybe used in the automotive industry – a kind of a cloth on gum?!?

So we started and finished the same project at the same weekend… it was so fun to share this – you could hear us saying bad bad words alle the time because this undefined cloth-gum-automotive-fabric was so bad to sew…but have a look. It looks gorgeous.

 
When my daughter saw this bag the first she said was: “This is very untypical for you!” And she is so right, but maybe that´s why I love it even more… and of course because I know there is a twin living somewhere in Germany ;-).

The next time when I make this pattern – and I am sure I will – the handles will become longer for me. It is an easy and free pattern and if you use only fabrics without cutting them in parts to sew them together again, you will finish very quickly!
