Kate Spain Blog Hop meets Bee Flowers

There is a Kate Spain blog hop in the quilters-blogger-world and today you can link up one Kate Spain Project at Alyse  from Blossom Heart Quilts. When I started quilting a Little more than two years ago the first fabrics I ordered were Fandango from Kate Spain. It was so much precious to me, that I needed some time to find the right project and so I went with the "Bee Flowers" Quilt made from the members of the Bee Germany 2011! I love this quilt and her fabrics!!!

Es läuft zur Zeit ein Kate Spain Blog Hop in der Quilter-Blogger-Welt und heute kann man ein eigenes Kate Spain Projekt bei Alyce von Blossom Heart Quilts verlinken. Als ich vor gut zwei Jahren mit dem Quilten begann, habe ich mir als erste Stoffe Fandango von Kate Spain geordert. Die waren für mich derart besonders, dass ich eine Weile gebraucht habe, bis ich wußte was ich mit ihnen machen werde. Sie stecken jetzt in meinem "Bee Flowers"-Quilt, den die Mitglieder der Bee Germany 2011 mit genäht haben! Ich liebe diesen Quilt und ihre Stoffe!!!

Texile Art meets Patchwork Guild

Am Wochenende war ich das erste Mal bei der Textile Art in Berlin, die glücklicherweise gleichzeitig die Patchwork Gilde Deutschland mit einer große Patchwork-Ausstellung zu Besuch hatte. 

The Textile Art is an anual Exhibition in Berlin. This was my first time to visit and I was lucky, because the Patchwork Guild of Germany had an extra show there.

Das ist schon Wahnsinn, was Leute mit Stoffen anfangen, sehr beeindruckend.

Is is unbelievable, what people are able to do with fabric, I was really amazed - fantastic!

Natürlich hat mich die Patchwork-Ausstellung besonders interessiert. Ich hatte keinerlei Erwartung, war aber doch  sehr gespannt. Mich hat überrascht, dass es aus meiner Sicht eigentlich nur Traditionelles zu sehen gab. Von den tollen Sachen, die "wir" hier alle so machen, konnte man gar nichts sehen. Technisch und fachwerklich geniale Sache, aber eine Mischung aus Moderne und Tradition hätte dem ganzen für meinen Geschmack gut getan. Keine Ahnung, ob man so was schreiben darf ;-).  Mir war gar nicht bewusst, wie viele Quilter es in Deutschland geben muss! Leider durfte man keine Fotos machen, sonst hätte ich gern einiges gezeigt.

Of course I was really curious about the Patchwork-Exhibition. I did not expect anything, but I was really excited to see it. I was really surprised, that there were only traditional works to see. You couldn´t see any of the kind of beauties "we" are doing in our world-wide-quilt-cumunity. Techniqually and from the craftmanship it was really impressive, but a mixture of modern and traditional would have been good, for my taste. I don´t know, if it is political incorrect to write somthing like this ;-).  I was surprised, how many quilters there must be in Germany. Unfortunately it wasn´t allowed to make photos.

Und um den Übergang von traditionell zu modern zu finden, habe ich gestern meinen Bee-Germany-Block für Johanna fertig bekommen, der den traditionellen Drunkhards Path genial in die Moderne übersetzt ;-).

And to find the bridge from the traditional to modern I made my Bee-Germany-Block for Johanna, where she used the traditional drunkhards path and transformed it in a modern pattern ;-)

Bee Germany meets MoStash Bee

I am going to make a quilt for a special person for a special date (I think she could read it, so there are no more information ;-). So I asked my two bees making blocks for me - the Bee Germany and the MoStash Bee - Blue Bloods Hive.

Ich möchte für jemand besonderes zu einem besonderen Tag einen Quilt nähen (Ich denke, es könnte sein, dass sie es liest, daher keine weiteren Infos ;-). So kam es, dass ich meine beiden Bees mit Blöcken hierfür beauftragt habe - die Bee Germany und die  MoStash Bee - Blue Bloods Hive.

Yesterday I got the last two blocks and I am so sad, that I cannot start immediately to sew the together. It´s the first time, that I new how to quilt a quilt before I started... inspired by all these great circle quiltings I want to sew cirlcles starting in one point, but not in the middle. I think I will or have to finish it in June...
 
Gestern habe ich meine letzten zwei Blöcke bekommen, do dass ich doch schon ein wenig traurig bin, dass ich nicht gleich loslegen kann... Ein Novum ist jedoch, dass ich schon vor dem ersten Block wußte, wie ich den Quilt quilten werde. Inspiriert bei den tollen Kreis-Quiltings werde ich an einem nicht zentralen Punkt anfange und bis zum Rand in Kreisen quilten. Es wird wohl im Juni genäht, habe keine andere Wahl...

This pattern is from the book Srcap Republic from Emily Cier. I love this book, it is one of those I could always look at, because of these happy colors she uses. I was so glad, that I could imaginge her Pivot in Scraps in pink and grey... this will be right her alley - hopefully ;-)

Das Muster habe ich aus dem Buch Srcap Republic von Emily Cier. Ich liebe dieses Buch, es ist eins, dass ich immer wieder raushole und anschaue, weil sie so fröhliche Farben benutzt. Ich war echt froh, als ich Ihr Pivot in Scraps gesehen habe und es mir auch in rosa und grau vorstellen konnte. Es wird genau ihr Ding  - hoffentlich ;-).

This is the layout with the blocks of the Bee Germany, my MoStash Bee Blocks came later, because I had the April. I sent the fabrics for the Bee Germany and even I used over 25 greys, you can still see the repeating, so I thought it would be fantastic to get blocks from the stash from others, that´s why I also asked the Ladies of the MoStash Bee. This was a very good decision. All blocks are so gorgeous!!!

Das ist das Layout ausgelegt mit den Bee Germany Blöcken, meine MoStash BeeBlöcke kamen etwas später, da ich hier den April hatt. Der Bee Germany habe ich die Stoffe geschickt und über 25 unterschiedliche graus verwendet und trotzdem sieht man sie sich wiederholen. So kam die Idee, dass auch die Mädels der MoStash Bee mir den selben Block mit IHREN stoffen schicken. Das war eine super Idee. Alle Blöcke sehen echt fantastisch aus!!!

To Do List Done :)

I decided to sew things that should be mailed today...
Habe beschlossen, Sachen zu nähen, die ich heute mit der Post noch auf den Weg schicken muss...

First I finished three blocks of a secret project psssssst... cannot tell you about it yet... I used the sizes Rachel used in her stunning quilt.
Als erstes ging´s los mit drei Plus-Blöcke für ein geheimes Projekt. Pssssst... ich kann aber noch nichts verraten. Rachel hat so einen tollen Quilt aus diesen Blöcken gezaubert.

Well, I also made the blocks for Bee Germany. Miriam from Berlinquilter asked us to make some scappy Tumbling Blocks with her fabrics using this fantastic and funny tutorial on You tube for Y-seams. I was so surprised how easy this is to sew... Loved to make these cute blocks...
Nun, die Blöcke für die Bee Germany habe ich dann auch noch erledigt. Miriam von Berlinquilter hat uns Tumbling Blöcke aus Ihren Scraps zur Aufgabe gestellt und uns dieses tolle und lustige Video auf You Tube für Y-Nähte gefunden.... Hat unglaublich Spaß gemacht, die Blöcke zu nähen, hatte ich mir viel schwerer vorgestellt...

May is the Month of Kelly from geekscissors in The Modern Stash Quilting Bee. Because she is moving and other things she decided to - kind of - donate her bee-blocks for the To Boston with Love Project. This is so sweet of her.. Of course I hurried up to make two more flags, because the deadline is the 26th of May. Sometimes it takes a while over the ocean...
Der Mai ist der Monat von Kelly von geekscissors in der The Modern Stash Quilting Bee. Da sie gerade umzieht und so hat sie beschlossen, dass sie ihren Monat dem To Boston with Love Project schenkt. Das ist echt so süß von ihr... Tja, nun musste ich mich sputen, da die Deadline am 25. Mai ist. Manchmal braucht die Post Ewigkeiten über den Teich...

How the Charlie Bag from Burda became a twin bag…

… I spent the last weekend with 8 gorgeous Ladies from the Bee Germany together sewing, chatting and buying fabric.

So it happened that I bought some very untypical fabric for me. I was influenced and inspired at the same time from Ulrike and she was from me. She wanted to sew the Charlie Bag from Burda at our get together and I threw over my origin plans and switched over to this bag ;-).

Ok, we bought the same gobelin / tapestry, at least that´s what the salesman said, a lovely lining for 4 Euro per meter and for the ground we decided (together of course) for an undefined kind of fabric which is maybe used in the automotive industry – a kind of a cloth on gum?!?

So we started and finished the same project at the same weekend… it was so fun to share this – you could hear us saying bad bad words alle the time because this undefined cloth-gum-automotive-fabric was so bad to sew…but have a look. It looks gorgeous.

 
When my daughter saw this bag the first she said was: “This is very untypical for you!” And she is so right, but maybe that´s why I love it even more… and of course because I know there is a twin living somewhere in Germany ;-).

The next time when I make this pattern – and I am sure I will – the handles will become longer for me. It is an easy and free pattern and if you use only fabrics without cutting them in parts to sew them together again, you will finish very quickly!

Bee Germany Weekend – It was great Bee Germany Wochenende – Schön war´s…

We planed half a year before we finally met in Berlin in a rented flat in the middle of Kreuzberg the hippest district. Unfortunately we were only eigth  of twelve– life is not always following our rules. But it was so exciting to meet these Ladies in real life und I wasn´t disappointed. Ladies, you are fantastic!!! I got some present for kind of hosting this meeting, thank you so much to MonaW and Silke Scheller I was very pleased.

Mit einem halben Jahr Planung im Voraus haben wir uns endlich in Berlin mitten im Szenebezirk Kreuzberg in einer gemieteten Wohnung getroffen. Eigentlich wollte die Truppe komplett sein, aber wie das Leben eben so spielt….es hält sich leider nicht immer an unserer Regeln, so waren wir eben acht! Es war echt spannend die Mädels in Natura zu treffen und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht – Ihr seid so klasse!!! Ich habe sogar "Gastgeschenke" bekommen, so süß...

 Almost two full days we sewed, laughed, explained, asked, swapped, talked and of course ate. We stood in a kind of food-mile. The variety was enormous and we ate Vietnamese and Turkish food and drank Latte Macciato the afternoon to keep it international.

Knappe zwei volle Tage haben wir genäht, gelacht, erklärt, gefragt, getauscht, gequatscht und natürlich auch gegessen. Wir sind ja quasi mitten in der Fressmeile gelandet…. Die Auswahl an Welt-Essen war riesig: Vietnamesisch und Türkisch mit einem Latte Macchiato am Nachmittag ist es dann geworden.

We had to go to the fabric-market at the Maybachufer, you can find it there every Saturday. We bought lots of low prieced fabrics and other sewing stuff and some of us had to use them at once into new sewing projects…

Auch den Stoffmarkt am Maybachufer, der jeden Samstag dort zu finden ist, haben wir unsicher gemacht und uns eingedeckt mit Stoffen und Nähzubehör, das teilweise auch sofort in Nähkunstwerke umgesetzt wurde… 

 

There are already new plans for the next two meetings :)

Es gibt schon Pläne für zwei weitere Treffen :)
