The beautiful circle of flying geese are made by the wonderful Leanne fom shecanquilt. I was so lucky that she had me as a partner at the Scrappy Mug Rug Swap one year ago, because I am a great admirer of her work. Forgive me, Leanne, that it took me so long to find the right frame, but know it has the perfect place and this is the first quilting thing hanging on my walls ever!
She sent me not only one, but two small beauties!
Den wunderschöne Kreis mit flying geese hat mir die wunderbare Leanne fom shecanquilt genäht. Ich hatte vor einem Jahr das Glück, dass ich ihre Partnerin im Scrappy Mug Rug Swap war - ich bin eine große Bewunderin ihrer Arbeiten. Verzeih mir Leanne, dass ich so lange gebraucht habe, bis ich einen passenden Rahmen und Platz gefunden habe. Es ist das erste gequiltete Stück, das je an meiner Wand hing!
When I saw the pixelated heart of Jolene from blue elephant stitches I knew I wanted to make a mini version of it in my favorite colours purple and pink and I wanted to try a technique I saw at Cottilello, but unfortunately I cannot find the right place anymore.
Als ich das gepixelte Herz von Jolene from blue elephant stitches gesehen habe, wußte ich sofort, dass will ich in klein in meinen Lieblingsfarben lila und pink machen. Außerdem wollte ich eine Technik ausprobieren, die ich bei Cottilello gesehen habe. Leider weiß ich nicht mehr wo.
You have to cut your squares - in my case 289 in a size of 1,25 inch - and lay it out on a thin fusible interface on the sticky side with the edges touching eachother. Then iron it - and believe me, you think you should stop now, because it already looks so nice (left picture). Fold the first line vertical and sew on the left side with a little more then a 1/4 inch seam. Do so with all the lines in a row and cut a tiny bit from the seam so the seam can be opened and pressed. It looks funny now because the dimensions get out of place (right picture)...
Man schneidet seine Quadrate - in meinem Fall 289 1,25 inch Quadrate - und legt sie auf einer dünne Bügeleinlage aus, so dass sich die Seiten der Quadrate alle berühren. Dann festbügeln und glaubt mir, man denkt, man könnte das ganze auch so lassen, weil es schon so schön aussieht (linkes Bild). Man faltet die erste Reihe vertikal und näht mit einer Nahtzugabe etwas großzügiger als sonst, da man am Ende ein wenig abschneiden wird, um die Nähte auseinander bügeln zu können. So geht man jede vertikale Reihe durch und das ganze sieht dann erstmal ein wenig verschoben aus (rechtes Bild)...
Now you have to do the same for the horizontel lines and your layout will be seen soon just only much more smaller. I started 17 x 17 inch and ended 7,5 x 7,5 inch :)
Jetzt das ganze in horizontaler Richtung und das eigentliche Layout kommt zum Vorschein - nur viel kleiner. Meins war 17 x 17 inch groß und endete bei 7,5 x 7,5 inch :)
If you haven´t tried it yet, you should, great way to sew especially small squares!
Fall du das noch nicht versucht hast, solltest du es mal tun - großartige Art gerade kleine Quadrate zusammen zu bringen.
