After making some Sleepingbag Pouches to sell, my daughter came home and was kind of jelous of all these sweet beauties you can see in the pictures below (the blue / red one is earmarked). So she walked to my fabric-cabinet and bulled out two fabrics and told me, what she would looooove to have NOW! ;-). I love it, when she wants something sewn by me - you understand this? And so she had a genious idea and I made it her way. Cool Girl!

Nachdem ich ein paar Schlafsäckchenmäppchen zum Verkaufen genäht habe (die blau/rote ist reserviert), kam meine Tochter nach Hause und war ein wenig neidisch auf die ganzen süßen Täschchen, die ihr unten seht. Also ging sie zu meinem Stoffschrank und suchte sich zwei Stoffe aus und hatte eine genaue Vorstellung davon, wie ihre aussehen sollte. Und sie fänd es suuuuuper klasse, wenn sie die HEUTE noch bekommen könnte :). Ich liebe es, wenn sie genähte Sachen von mir will - versteht ihr das? Und so habe ich ihre geniale Idee umgesetzt, cooles Mädel!

So and then there were the Blocks 7 and 8 of the German QAL Tula Pink City Sampler. My daughter didn´t like those blocks at all. Not the Colors of No. 7 and not all the squares. Of course I showed her, how to make two Long pieces of fabric, sew together and cut them to have two squares together already, but still. This was a fight between fabric, my machine and my daughter, my daughter and me ;-). Glad those blocks are sewn.
So und dann waren da noch die Blöcke 7 und 8 des German QAL Tula Pink City Samplers. Meine Tochter mochte diese Blöcke überhaupt nicht. Nicht die Farben von Nr. 7 und nicht die ganzen Quadrate. Natürlich habe ich ihr gezeigt, dass man erst lange Streifen aneinander näht und dann in Stücke schneidet, die dann gleich zwei aneinander genähte Quadrate ergeben, aber dennoch. Es war ein Kampf zwischen dem Stoff, der Nähmaschine und meiner Tocher, meiner Tochter und mir ;-). Bin froh, dass diese beiden Blöcke genäht sind.
And I made sandwiches of alle the blocks she already sewed and quilted them - she made some blocke more then the plan, because she likes to sew 3,4,5 blocks at a time - this sounds familiar to me ;-). So I tried the QAYG technique on These blocks and put some of them already together - see this video. This is a great technique and is very comfortable, because you see your quilt growing and only the binding is left at the end. BUT! there is a negative thing too. We want a 2 inch white sashing around the blocks and now there is a white stripe on this sashing in the middle. We can live with it, but it is not ideal.
Außerdem habe ich schon mal alle Blöcke, die sie genäht hat - ja wir sind dem Plan schon voraus - als Sandwichs zusammen gefügt und gequiltet. Sie hat schon ein paar Blöcke mehr, das sie ab und an Lust hat, gleich ein paar 3,4,5 Blöcke am Stück zu nähen ;-) - kommt mir irgendwie bekannt vor. Mir kam das gelegen, da ich gleich mal versucht habe, wie das mit dem QAYG und zusammenfügen der Blöcke funktioniert. Das ist schon super, dass man den Quilt langsam wachsen sieht und am Ende nur noch das Binding rannähen muss. ABER!: Es ist auch wirklich eine Geschnacksfrage, wenn man wie wir einen 2 Inch breiten weißen Zwischenraum möchte, auch immer noch einen extra Streifen oben drauf genäht hat. Suboptimal, aber sehr praktisch!
And this is a great Advantage of the QAYG technique: the backside is finished the same time and we are using different fabrics of the same colorway from the front block. Maybe there will be no fabric twice, not sure if we can make this.
Und das ist der große Vorteil der QAYG Methode: die Rückseite ist gleich mit fertig und wir werden unterschiedliche Stoffe verwenden, die die Hauptfarbe des vorderen Blocks haben. Vielleich schaffen wir es, keinen Stoff zweimal zu nutzen, bin nicht sicher, ob das klappt.
