Pink-Grey-Quilt / Rosa-Grau-Quilt

I finished this quilt a while ago and I really wanted to add this to Leannes 2013 Finish-A-Long, but I couldn´t make it earlier to write this down. BUT now this is my very special post for this Pink-Grey-Quilt only.

My niece turned 18 this August and I wanted to make her a special gift. I asked her some month ago about her likes and dislikes at a birthday party so I just seamed to be interested ;-).

She loves pink/rose and grey and I new what I wanted to do. I saw this quilt in Emily Ciers book Srcap Republic and knew this would be a great Bee-Project. Fortunately I had two bees with perfect month to help me sewing this quilt - the Ladies of Bee Germany and the Ladies of The Modern Stash Quilting Bee. Thank you so so much for your gorgeous blocks. This was a great combination to use those two bees - the Bee Germany got the fabrics from me and the The Modern Stash Quilting Bee used their own fabrics. This makes the quilt so lively.

Just in case someone wants to know more about the location ;-): it´s on the area of the Opympic Stadium in Berlin built for the Olympics in 1936 - this is a bronze statue of a well trained Athlet ;-).

I had a really bad time thinking of the quilting and decided to stay close to the original. I just made my Free-Motion-Quilting not so closly spaced as xxx did. I am so glad about this decision and like the quilting even it is not perfect at all.

  12. Love how the quilt looks b&w but then the pop of pink! Great pictures too, especially the naked athlete statue. Lol

Was hast du denn als Batting genommen? Das wirkt so plüschig weich und kuscheilg.

  18. What a sweet gift, Aylin. The pink looks so soft against the black and white background and the strip pieced blocks add to the contrast of the round, pink centers. Fabulous job on the quilting. Congratulations on a beautiful finish!
